Remote control

Hi,
Has anyone installed coin kit in a cabinet?
If so, can you tell me how well the remote works in this situation.
I want to buy the kit with remote but only if I know it will work with the coin kit out of sight.

I havent got one in a cab , but i have put one in a project box.
with it being an ir remote it requires a line of sight so i had to drill a hole in the box where the the remote receiver was to enable it to receive the remote signals.
once i had drilled the hole the box received the signal from 90% of the angles i tried, which was good enough for me.
However i do believe it would have been better to use an externally moutable IR receiver somehow??(coin Kit Does Not Support this) which would still mean drilling the cab, it would just give better coverage?

That's what I thought
Maybe Steve would consider a modification for future units such as connecting the ir unit to the board with wires, so it is more versitile in its placement options.

theres nothing to stop u extending the ir device with wires if you wish ??
it up to u guys to modify your own stuff thats what makes it fun :-)

also on the board you notice an empty component location (near buttons)
you can move ir device there or insert wires there
its easy

Hey dude i know where u r coming from  I also am an electrical and an electronics guy, i know about relay's from the early days of 'omron 50v & 240v', 'syncronus motors' & 'sequence timers' etc...

So dont be afraid of 'chips' and the Coin Kit board, is easy to use and I can help you if you get stuck ok :-)

But where do I get an ir sensor?
Is that even what they're called?

the spare ir location was put ther so you can move the sensor from the side of board to the end of board (horizonal to vertical)
the idea is that u can mount the board to inside of ur juke cabint front door glass and then bend ir sensor down/outwards to face the glass (so that remote beam goes thru glass to the sensor)
u can of course remove ir sensor and atach extension wires to either location on t board

in some cases the Jukebox itself would be outta ir range, it might be an idea to include a wired ir sensor/receiver with the coin kit too?
This way i could run the ir cable to different zones and still have the volume controls etc. Especially if thers a secondary Screen mounted in a separate zone?? you could then run the ir to above the secondary screen ??
just something to think about maybe??
