Title: Easy search for karaoke tracks
Post by: Jason on December 22, 2020, 02:45:24 AM
I have a number of karaoke tracks on the machine. On other machines karaoke tracks were easily located by searching for songs by category then another button for Karaoke, allowing guests to easily scroll through the entire karaoke list by title. Is the pub juke software capable of doing this? Or is the only way to locate karaoke tracks is to search for the artist you like and hope that this artist has a karaoke track available on the machine.

Are there any other option available.

Hi Jason

First ensure Karaoke is not excluded by going into (menu -> engineer -> excluded genre's) and check the button there.
As long as your karaoke files (the mp3) is tagged with a genre & title you can find them by either.

Hi,
Maybe I can help elaborate on what Jason’s point is as I feel I maybe having the same problem.

As good as the pub jukebox software is, it is no good for playing karaoke tracks or for a karaoke party because when the karaoke genre is turned on the karaoke tracks become lost within normal tracks.  The biggest problem is when using the search function or looking for a track via "artist a-z" there is no indication what a karaoke track is or not.  The only way to guarantee a track is karaoke is to go to "tracks a-z" and pick the "Karaoke" genre, but then you have to scroll through pages of unsortable tracks to find the one you want.
This causes our users to experience the problem of;

1) having to go artist to artist to try and find if a karaoke track exists for that artist (and sometimes still been unsure)
2) having to scroll 1000's of karaoke tracks under “artist a-z” to find the right song and not knowing if the even exists on the system.
3) using search to try and find a karaoke track but unsure if search results are karaoke or not
4) using search to find a karaoke track but returning 2 tracks with the same title, one normal one karaoke but unsure what one is what
5) with no short cut key, the karaoke mode is not easily turned on/off in a locked-out kiosk mode.  this can cause the mode to be left on and customers selecting a karaoke track by accident not knowing it’s a karaoke track.

I know it is possible to change title card colour and/or change the title card photo to say, "karaoke track", but this can be tedious to setup and for a drunk patron this sometimes is not enough.

My personal suggestions for the most easy and efficient way to try and remedy the situation would be to;

1)Add a shortcut key to turn karaoke on and off
2)Add an option that, when karaoke genre is on, all other genres are off to create the karaoke party theme.
3)Different pricing options for playing a karaoke track compared to a regular track.

I am sure I am not the only one waiting for changes around the karaoke options.

Thank you for your time.
