Pi Jukebox / Auto Start and MP4
« Last post by hobbyismater on April 14, 2025, 06:00:34 AM »
So I have been messing around the past 2 days with Pi Jukebox Pro version. I have several things I want to ask but I just start with a couple and work though each one as I get those fixed. I seen a post where I have to tag the mp4 videos to make them work. I used tagmp3 which i know its not suppose to be used for mp4 but it did tag the video I set a artist, album and genre. I doesnt show up on my list of music on the jukebox at all. Maybe Im doing something wrong or something I need to activate? What do people use to tag mp4 that I can use on the Pi? I have pi app and wine installed to use programs. My second question is I want to setup the jukebox to auto start, I seen the post a while ago to make it auto start when it loads up and I have that working but I want it to be in full screen mode, everything I found said dont use the desktop just boot straight into the program. I am fine with that if I can get to the desktop mode when I need to add music or do something else. Im fine either way, I dont care that you can see the desktop for a few seconds before it loads, I just want it to be full screen. I found somewhere to use --start-fullscreen not really sure where to put that in the code fromt he previous post

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Pi Jukebox
Comment=Start Pi Jukebox
NoDisplay= false
Exec="/home/pi/Desktop/Pi Jukebox/Pi Jukebox"

I tried on the comment part but it must be wrong because when I save it and reboot it doesnt show up there when I load the command up again like it doesnt save it.  And 1 more quick thing I see all these coin acceptor comments but I really want to use a bill acceptor, should be the same long as it pulses correct? I have found several that do but i have to figure out how to wire them up. So any info on that would be great as well.

You can download the older version of Videobox. I screenshot the forum so you can search for it.

Videobox / Re: Karaoke words to show on 2nd screen?
« Last post by johnno on March 31, 2025, 09:06:12 AM »
Hi johnno, could be a few things...
The karaoke file type must be .cdg (mp3+g)
The .cdg filename must match exactly the filename of the matching mp3 (cAsE sensitive)
People have reported that the second screen output does not work well with hdmi, use vga instead.
Thank you

Coin Kit / Re: Enquiry - purchasing spare remote?
« Last post by Steve on March 06, 2025, 12:05:05 PM »
Hi Laurence, we don't have anything left for the Coin Kit boards, but I think the remotes were pretty generic and you might find that lots of those little remotes will work with it, I did a quick search on eBay for 'arduino remote' and it shows a lot of them, I'm not saying that they will defiantly work but it's worth a shot if you are stuck...

Thought it would worth a shot to ask, as I know you don’t produce the boards any more

Coin Kit / Enquiry - purchasing spare remote?
« Last post by Laurence on March 05, 2025, 01:08:40 AM »
Just a quick question do you have a spare remotes for a coin kit board that I could possibly purchase from you.

My current remote that uses AR54 batteries doesn’t seem to want to work anymore even with new batteries, I have another remote from another coin kit board that my brother in-law purchased ages ago but that uses a CR2025 battery again that remote also doesn’t work even after new batteries.

I was hoping that you may have a few coin kits or spare remove laying around so I could get a spare remote.

Kindest regards
Laurence

Pi Jukebox / Re: Pi Jukebox trial version ignores video files (MP4)
« Last post by MikeUK on February 22, 2025, 07:07:32 PM »
Steve,

I took your advice and purchased a licence for the Home Pi Jukebox and can vouch that the software registered fine on my Pi 400 setup.  I'm enjoying the background music option which plays tracks I have forgotten existed or haven't played for some time.  Great stuff.

As for MP4 music / video files, I'll continue for the moment to use VLC via SMB connection (which also works on the Pi 400) for the moment.  Which raises a question for Bry, will the Pi Jukebox software be ported over to the Pi 5 ?

Hi mike, I always try to reply quickly if i'm at my computer but Unfortunately there's no chance of any patches or anything at the moment as our Bry is away...
After thinking about your problem for a bit it might be that you have a problem with your files because Pi Jukebox will play mp4 audio in the basic/trial versions, it just doesn't show the video, so i think thre's something up with your mp4's maybe ?.
Also, a couple of other things...
1. I dont know if your Pi 400 will work, although it works the same as a Pi4 it might report itself as a Pi400 when registering and would not work, I dont know this for sure as I've never tried it but its something to considder.
2. Pi jukebox uses its own rendering/playing engine so it will definatley NOT play at anything like 1024 or 768, its only for little screens like the Pi 7".

Hope that helps  ;D
