Networked libraries
« on: September 30, 2011, 02:45:49 PM »
Hi, I have currently 3 jukes running either JBP or videobox and I find it a real pain updating all 3.

So Is anyone using a networked library?.. Not even sure if it's possible but can I use my nas as my library storage.
I don't see Why it wouldn't work?
I have a wall mounted touchscreen Pc that is running XP from an internal hdd. It has an onboard cf card slot too though.
I would like to install the os and software to the cf slot and access the media library stored on a networked Pc or other networked device. I could then do away with the internal hdd.
If possible is it then possible to have all 3 jukes linked to the same networked library?
If so I could update the one library and all 3 jukes are updated!
Has anyone even tried this?

Hi Dj

Yes you can do that, thats what i do, I have my music downstairs on my main PC and a laptop upstairs using wifi.
Its a bit slower using wifi, but I didnt want to run a cat5 lan cable.

Hey Dj

Sounds cool with the gigalan, I also dont see any reason you cant have 3 sharing a library.

Hi John I am listening to a track that is on my vaio pc ,through my wall box pc over wifi as I write this. ;D

You'll be happy to hear that with mp3s it seems to work perfectly even though it takes a couple of extra seconds to load in the library in the settings panel.Once loaded though everything works great, until my library came across a lossless track. It then began to skip a little and on screen presses started to lag a little. Reject the track though and select an mp3 and all seems fine again.

Iv had it on test now for about 40 mins with just mp3s over wifi and works flawlessly.

Powerful!

Kinda on a the same subject. Or network related.
I downloaded screens for iPad and am now using it to control vjb over a wifi network via Vnc client.
This is also doable via a vnc on win/mac etc.
It basically mirrors your pc screen to your portable device.
Steve have u considered ios apps? lol
Vjb on iPad..... Who wudda thought it.

I was gonna mention this to you guys but I thought it wouldnt be of any interest (guess I was wrong), you dont need anything more than windows desktop connection, start a windows desktop connection from the remote computer and then start your program   :D
