Videobox / My views of videobox
« Last post by Darren123 on April 13, 2024, 04:50:18 PM »
For the last couple of years I've been a user of home jukebox, and for what it is and how much it coats its far more superior than videobox in mu opinions, all I wanted to do was get the jukebox to play music videos and possibly karaoke on top of the already possible mp3s in home jukebox, videobox in the adverts offers exactly what I'm looking for, but it does not work out for me on my jukebox, I have thousands of music files and to have to separate them into sub genres and then into folders that contain no more than 24 songs in each, it's impossible to do. I've tried everything to get on with videobox, surely there's got to be someone else out there that has a jukebox that has thousands of music files on, how are you working with videobox because to be honest I'm lost, there was absolutely nothing wrong with home jukebox except it lacked the option of.videos and if you like karaoke files, should I go back to home jukebox and accept that videobox doesn't meet my requirements, is there any work around, does anyone know of a solution or a suggestion,  any help is most appreciated, I have asked a couple of times if I've brought the right software,  videobox is absolutely fantastic but I just can't get it to do what I want it to do, I'm not sure how to message the moderators directly to ask for help so.im hoping someone else has hit these problems before. Many thanks for your time and if you can help it's most appreciated

I'm going to have to experiment I think, my jukebox has all genres, and it's got a to z of files in each, I'm hoping that making 0-9,a,b,c,d, etc to z in each genre and moving files into each alphabetically works out, there's not one genre I have that has a small amount of tracks so I will never be able to get 24 in each, I'm not using my jukebox as an album player, it has thousands of songs on it in each genre, did I buy the right software?, does the older version deal with things better ?

Videobox can be fast if you arrange your files and folders in a smart way, think of your genre's first, you dont want to have too many or you will be scrolling them forever, up to about 25 genre's is ok, and I would say that you dont want to have more than a couple of sub-genre's in each. as for tracks, think of each album as a CD, a cd usually contains upto about 24 tracks. if you stick to that you should be ok, of course this is not a rigid set of rules but I find it works just fine...

Thankyou for your reply and valuable time steve, So with what you have suggested should I have purchased a different software from you, I love home jukebox nut it doesn't do music videos and karaoke, it would be better if home jukebox did these things, are there any better options, or updates to allow hone jukebox to do videos and karaoke, should I have purchased pub jukebox, I thought the way ahead was videobox, do the older versions of videobox load multiple files in a genre more quickly, is it just this latest release that suffers due to how you have to arrange the folders,

Videobox is different from Home Jukebox, Home jukebox is more efficient it stores tracks in a fast database by default, Videobox is an older product that started life by reading track filenames (before people got into tags) and so to use Videobox its best to split up your music as much as you can into lots of genre's with lots of sub-genres and tracks, if you put thousands of tracks or genre's in one folder it will take a month to load, create genre's with sub genre's and albums of no more than 24 tracks is my recommendation...

Videobox / Videobox slow loading track view

I have now put all music into sub genres to allow videobox latest update to see them, my problem now is that when selecting the sub category icon in the middle window it takes absolutely ages to show any tracks and hangs there, some of my folders have thousands of mp3 or video files of that genre is there a bug in the software,  am I doing something wrong, I upgraded from home jukebox for video reasons but home jukebox worked fast and sweet,  I can't get video box to work properly,  it looks amazing but I'm having so.much trouble getting it right, is there anyone else who had this trouble I'm lost now, I don't know how to solve this, if you can help it would be most appreciated

Videobox / Re: Software For Setting Music Volume

If you want to normalise mp3 files then use MP3GAIN, of you want to set all your video files to the same volume as your mp3 music use FOOBAR 2000 for mp4 files, all my jukebox music and music videos and karaoke are all set to 95db, which seems good for my setup. Both programs are free, search Google.

Just to let everyone know, I've realised my mistake,  it's the way I have my folder structure,  a bit odd how you have to put a folder in a folders like subgenres or a duplicate of the genre folder
