Hi,I have an Nsm evolution that will not power on,
It did when purchased but after transporting it home it was dead, I have checked all cables ,wires & plugs, all connected, there are 2 green led's alight on the lower pcb, I have checked the fuses on the pcb's all 8.
I checked the power supply by the paper clip in the green & black plug connector & the fan spins has anyone any suggestions what to check next,

what motherboard is it using is it a itx m1000 or can you upload some pics on here might be able to help you
john
-
Hi thanks for the reply I have attached a pic of the inside.
Hope this helps
-
yes its using a epia m1000 so before we go any were are you keeping it as it is with the evolution software or if you was thinking of using it for video jukebox it wouldn't cope with it as its a very low spec mobo also to be honest I have converted quite a few of these and everything in the cab is no use not even the amp
hope that's not bad news
what does work does it power up at all the lights fans
-
Hi I was going to try to use as is,but if it fails then it will have to be converted,
Nothing happenes when power is switched on, there are 2 green led's that light on the bottom left pcb board.
That's it, no fans etc
-
Just my 2cents..
I dont know anything about this model (John is the expert on this one), but if it has to be gutted and converted then the cabinet/vertical touchscreen will not go to waste, it should be compattible with our upcomming VFX software.
thats all...

sounds like you may have problems with capacitors on the mobo or pc psu which will only happen when its been powered of for sometime so try this classic hold a hair dryer over the psu for a couple of mins and the mobo and see if it fires up
does the mobo have swollen capacitors are the tops bloating and showing signs of electrolytic leaking from them
even though you shorted the pins on the power supply and it fired up doesn't mean its not faulty could be one of the supply lines down through leaky caps
make sure when you apply hair drier that juke is powered on
if nothing happens can you remove the mobo from the cab and connect with another psu
can you send me a close up photo of mobo
-
Hi john, tried the hair dryer,no go,removed mobo & connected to a tower unit I have, nothing happens, the only thing I can see is the 2 caps left of the power input plug are raised a little bit photo attached.

Just ordered another mobo just in case, will let you know when it is fitted & the outcome
-
I have recapped these and got them working however care must be taken as these are double sided soldered and can be tricky
you can pick these up of ebay cheap
have you ordered the same mobo if so should fit back in cab with no errors
-
I have ordered the same mobo so hopefully it should work.
Will keep you informed
Cheers

when u tried the board did connect pc switch to pins 6/8 on the f panel connector or just put a screw driver across them if not it wont power on
just a thought as you have set it up to come on by ac mains switch in the bios settings
-
When I tried the mobo, I unplugged the mobo and connections on the tower unit, and connected everthing to the Nsm mobo, nothing came on not even the power supply fan on the tower unit ?
-
ok new mobo should sort u out
-
Hi John, new mobo arrived this morning, fitted and everthing works, thanks for your help, much appreciated.
-
that's great dude

All I'm looking for now is the evolution manual, and a remote control.
If you hear of anyone who can point me in the right direction ......I have looked on a few sites they have all other models but not this one.
Cheers

Jukebox not working again! I think the problem is one or both these pcb's,
I have power going in the bottom pcb but nothing comming out the top pcb, or getting to the screen.
If I connect another monitor I get a picture of it loading xp
So I take it the motherboard is operating.
Does anyone know where I can find replacements or
A repairer near to cheshunt herts.
-
i'm not too sure what type of board you have for the top PCB.
i've had a look around to find the exact type of board. so far i haven't found any.
However i do know a site jukeboxparts.co.uk , but i'm unsure if they have any NSM digital spares.
hope this helps.
-
another site i have found is nsmjukebox.co.uk/nsm-repairs/
-
Hi Laurence, I have looked on those sites, but I am told this was a conversion from a fire cd unit, so I don't know who or where it was done, so I may have to Change over to another operating system ie new motherboard and a windows.
That's for your advice.
