Title: USB license key
Post by: Dj4nrv on March 07, 2012, 07:10:38 PM
I would like to be able to load my license file onto a dedicated USB key and point the program to its location.

Hey Dj

We already thought of this one ages ago, but there are so many problems with it that its not going to happen, sorry  :)

Hi Steve.
Fair enough youve obviously already given it thought. I just thought that way it wouldn't be as easy to lose your key ,if it was a physical something , USB or otherwise.?

Dj

Yeah, we tried allsorts in the early days but we soon realised that a hardware or transferable key would not work, we did actually do a trial (it was a disaster) lol.

I know the current licensing model is sometimes restrictive, but it's a good compromise, we keep our wares cheap enough to install on multiple computers, and it just pays enough to keep us interested and working to develop new stuff for you.

ok , i do obviously need something idiot proof tho! lol.
I had to dig out the kim flash utility ysterday because i went to use it and it werent there!!
i must have forgotten to back it up the last time i did a re install. but luckily i still had the license as an attachment on an email !!
I really need to get organised lol.

i can certainly understand your point too. i myself have used up enough of yours two time, and thats just me, i dread to think of the hours youve put in in total.

Maybe just burn your software & license onto a blank CDrom, then you have them both to hand if you need to reinstall  ;D
