Title: help with second monitor
Post by: astrocity on April 03, 2012, 01:11:33 PM
Hi everyone.
I have an issue with the second monitor in videobox. When you reboot the pc it dosen't enable video on the second monitor, I have to manually do it. Anyone had this problem or does someone know how to save the settings so it works when its turned on.
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I checked it and all is ok here, so, some suggestions for you...

Try running VBX as administrator and then set the 2nd monitor, restart and see if that has cured it.
or
Use our config file removal tool to remove you current configuration file (resets everithing back to default) and then set your 2nd monitor again.

I'm currently having this same issue.  Tried running in admin, made no difference.  I have no idea what the config removal tool is?

I had this problem when first trying to setup the second screen http://jukeblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=414.0 but worked through it.

Hi sparkup

Ok, forget VBX for the moment...

Is your second screen set up with the 'extend desktop option' in windows ?.
If so, does it remain extended after a PC restart ?.

Yes to both questions.

Hi

Ok, then there is nothing to prevent VBX from keeping the setting, only thing I can think to try is to remove your user.config file with this tool http://jukeblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=417.0

Close VBX, run tool to delete your config file, then run VBX and set all setting up again (no need to reinstall VBX).

Give that a go  ;)

Lol, there is no point in just quoting john's comments, have you tried what I have advised ?, what was the outcome ?.

I can tell you that we have been testing the problem you report and cannot reproduce it on any machine(with xp, vista, or win7), I have a feeling that this will turn out to be a problem with the desktop settings not set right.

hi steve
i did have all my 2nd monitor settings in windows set correctly and when i restarted vjb all that was

the 2nd screen to display infoe and then saved but each time on restart it doesnt display album infoe
just desktop

however ive been having probs using the ssd so reinstaling windows 7 [yuk] >:( might be trim probs
so will let you know if problem still there but in the past this as always been a prob for me  ::)

Sorry John, my comment was to sparkup, he has simply quoted you instead of reporting back on my suggested fix for his problem (waste of his time & mine :-/).

I can only help you guys if my suggestions are followed and then acurate feedback is given back to me.

one thing tu may not know is that when vbx fires up it will check first that t same config exists as when it shutdown
if anythin is difrent like monitor not instaled or not in same place or win reports a difren res etc it wil revert back to using themain interface to protect itself from a crash and will keep going

that explains some of my past probs just trying to sort my juke out and get it back on xp
so with that in mind ill make sure im happy with windows display settings before i reinstal vjb

Tried it, I'm still having problems.

In the VBX video settings section it shows 3 displays (even thou only 2 are installed), one gives an error http://jukeblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=414.0 if selected, one displays the videos on my second monitor and the other is the computer.  Is there a conflict due to the 3 displays showing up in the vbx video settings?  According to the computer settings there are only 2 monitors attached.

Trying to run the second monitor using a HDMI cable from the video card.

I honestly dont know how you expect anyone to help you when you keep posting links to other peoples comments and errors instead of posting your own results.

Why not just copy & post the error that you get on your computer ?, how about a screenshot of the 3 monitors problem ?.

I give up  :(

posted the link because it was the same error.

the vbx software is running on a dedicated cabinet and not my home or business computer thus it isn't easily accessible to the internet.

If screen shots will help I'll grab them.  I appreciate your help as I am a newbie with this software  :-[
