Is there no way of building in a way of auto cleaning the 'appdata' when an unistall is performed? I think a lot of people's problems that occur in VBX are due to this. Lets be honest, some people do not understand computers as well as others, and are used to using windows to perform all their tasks. Searching for appdata folders and deleting the correct files, sounds easy to us, but to others it may sound complex??? any thoughts?

Hi Rob

Unfortunatly we cant allow VBX to remove any files that it did not create, the cached files in the appdata folder are created by the Windows operating system, as such we cant mess with them, all I can do is advise anyone wanting to remove them manualy.

To be fair the settings stored in the appdata folder dont cause any harm that cant be undone by just changing your settings again in VBX after install.

I think I understand. So the VBX re-writes these files when you change them in the settings menu, even after a new install without removing old cached files?

Writing software at school on an old bbc computer was childs play. So glad I chose a different path after leaving all those years ago.

John

There's your problem, Videobox doesnt search idv3 tags, never has!, it searches your filename.
Filename Fixer does not rename tags, you got it all backwards, it takes your tags and renames your file from the tag artist and title.

I think you could have saved yourself tons of time and energy by just reading the manual ?.  ;D

no you got me wrong i have used tag n rename to rename the files

i know vjb works with file names not tags i understand that and i had to use tag rename
because filefixer will not work on my laptop did for a short while and stoped opening up
with windows error twice this as happened even when i reformated after a couple of weeks
it wouldnt worked and stoped again  maybe its windows updates virus protection or just a conflict with some
other software i dont know its ashame as filefixer is a nipy program

One thing at a time John  :P, you need to answer my previous question if you want me to help you get to the bottom of your search problem.

Its best to start a new topic in the apropriate board if you want to talk about Filename Fixer.

Lol, what does the above mean ??????, cant make head or tails of it  ::).

What I'm asking you is:- what is the exact filename you are trying to find ?, eg "Elvis  Are you lonesome.mp3"

and

What are you typing into the search box to find that track ?, eg "lonesom"
