Hi Chen
First I should say that you will never get a reply by sending your questions to my email address, I reserve that email for licence requests only.
This forum is the place to post your question, the reason for this is that I am not always available to help you and someone else might be able to answer your question ;D
Ok, to your problem, if you can answer a few questions I might be able to figure out whats going on...
What operating system are you using ?
what service packs are installed ?
Have you installed the .NET framework ? (.NET files) if yes, what version ?
why did you request your licence again, is there something wrong with the one you have ?
-
ok
answers -
i use windows xp 32bit
service pack 3
i did install the NET framework, don't know which version, i downloaded it from my setup disc
the jbp was working fine before, the problem started after i unplugged my hard drive but i did this before a few times and never had a problem
i asked for a new licence because after reinstalling the JBP didn't except the old licence file
but excepted the new one you sent me but then i got the " Jukeboxpro encountered a problem and needs to close " error ...
what do i do?
-
Hi Chen
Ok
Your setup seems ok (winxp sp3) and you have .net framework installed.
JBP was working before you 'unplugged your hard drive', so my best guess is that by removing a drive you have somehow corrupted your setup (JBP does many checks at startup) and may be looking for a setting or music track or something that was there before you unplugged the drive that may be missing now.
What I suggest you do is this....
Backup your licence file before you do anything, then, completly remove Juke Blaster Pro, then, put everything back as it was before like your hard drive & music files and then re-install JBP.
Give that a try and get back to me ;D
-
the problem is that i took the driver out so that i can put new music on it and remove old,
i dont remember haw exactley it was before...
-
Chen
It sounds to me like you have screwed up something in the config file or the registry by removing that drive :-\
Is JBP program on the same drive as your JBP music folder ?
was music playing when you shut down jbp ?
is it a USB external drive or internal drive ?
-
the JBP program is not at the same drive as my JBP music folder
i dont remember if music was playing when i shut down jbp, maybe
its a USB external drive
and as for screweing up something in the config file or the registry by removing that drive
well i havent done somthing i didnt do befor
i need this to work, im using it at my buisness
-
Chen
If you realy need this to be working like now urgent! and dont have time to work through the problem, then my suggestion to you would be to wipe your hard drive and re-install XP & JBP, that cures all in about 1Hr ;D
-
Steve,
I'm helping Chen to sort out this problem.
Your suggestion to whipe & re-install windows is not reasonable.
The issue seems to be related to the license key no longer matching something in the PC configeration. Generating a new license key should resolve the problem?
Do you have a phone number that I can call so that you can walk us through solving this issue?
Thanks, Geoff.
-
Hi Geoff
Chen seems to be in a hurry to fix the problem and that is why I suggested a clean install, I think that is a reasonable course of action in a 'must fix it NOW situation'.
sorry no phone support.
Ok
Why do think it is to do with the licence key ?, Chen says nothing is diferent, same computer same drive ?.
Also I generated a new licence key for him only yesterday, I do not think it is anything to do with the key (unless something has changed on the computer Chen has not said ?)
I have managed to reproduce the same problem message by deleting the config file "Juke Blaster Pro.exe.config", I think it is something to do with that.
I attach a picture of files that should be in his Juke Blaster Pro folder for you to check.....
-
Steve,
Confirm that the files in C:\Program Files\Juke Blaster Pro match the picture.
I also tried “Install .NET” From the CD menu. It gave the choice to repair or uninstall, choose the repair option & it reinstalled ,net 3.5 SP1. Still getting the same eventtype clr20r3 error.
Could this have something to do with the version of .net that is installed on the pc?
We thoght it was related to the license key as after re-install it didnt accept the old key. after you sent the new key, it reverted to the eventtype clr20r3 error.
What else to try?
-
Geoff
That is so weird, I cannot understand how the original key suddenly diddnt work, and then the new one did ???.
Has anything new been installed or removed or anything ?, all I can think is that the pc is diffrent somehow that you are unaware of.
There are some files that JBP leaves behind after it has been uninstalled (note, Windows saves these files not JBP) and I think our next step is to remove JBP, then hunt these files down and delete them before installing JBP again.
If you want to try that, I can try to direct you to the files, but, bear in mind that they may be in a diffrent location on your computer and patience will be needed when searching for the files.
Would you like to do that ?.
-
Yes. ready to try anything. We have patience. Do you want me to uninstall JBP now?
-
Geoff
Yes un-install it, BACKUP YOU LICENCE KEY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.
Do you have MSN messenger to talk better ?
-
no msn messenger, i'm afraid, but willing to call you.
Uninstalling jbp pro now.
-
jbp uninstalled.
Note that it left the JukeBlasterPro.license file in c:program files\Juke Blster Pro directory.
-
Ok
When you have removed jbp, look on your computer in:- 'My Music/playlists' or 'Music/Playlists' for files named "jbp.wpl, jbp (2).wpl, jbp (3).wpl" etc etc and delete them.
-
search found 2016 files with extension .wpl & with names starting with jbp, plylst.. - should i delete them all?
-
Steve,
Been doing some searching on Google for the clr20r3 exception - this is what I found, with some suggestions for trapping exceptions in your code...
Its a bug in your code, so you need to debug - the reason you get the event is because an exception is being thrown, but hasnt been caught - i.e. its an unhandled exception, and the default behaviour in .Net 2 for unhandled exceptions is to terminate the application and report the event.
You can always add in a handler to pickup unhandled exceptions, but the root cause is the same - its a bug in your application code.
Code Snippet
AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(WorkerThreadHandler);
public void WorkerThreadHandler(object sender, UnhandledExceptionEventArgs args)
{
if (!(args.ExceptionObject is ThreadAbortException))
{
Exception exc = args.ExceptionObject as Exception;
MessageBox.Show(exc.ToString());
}
}
Hope this helps
This is an unhandled exception report. In .NET 2.0 (unlike .NET 1.1) the appDomain will unload when there is an unhandled exception. You can wire up your app to get more information about unhandled exceptions. Take a look at this article:

Ok Geoff
Thanks for that lesson, what was the cause of the exception ?, i will write code to handle it right now.
-
Ok, so how do we progress now?
I have deleted the 2016 files in my disk with extension .wpl.
Should I try to reinstall JBP next?
-
Geoff
Please stop trying to find the answer by googling error codes, they will not give you the answer.
If I am to help you, you must listen to what I say and follow my instructions or we are just going round in circles wasting each other's time,
I have not told you to delete all 1600 wpl files, I told you the ones to delete & where to find them.
Go into your recycle bin and restore them, then follow my instructions to delete only the files i specified.
I am going to take a break now (my head hurts lol), I will help you with the next step if you can complete the first step by the time I get back.
-
Steve,
Sorry to have offended you. Hope your head is feeling better.
I have restored files from the recycle bin. Only jbp.wpl & jbp (*).wpl from My Musc/playlists have been deleted. (still ~1600 files).
Awaiting your instructions.
Geoff.

Geoff
You havn't offended me dude dont worry ;), I just get frustrated when I'm trying to get the other party to do something so I can help them, and they go off and do something diffrent to what I said, it just wastes time and nothing gets fixed.
So, lets carry on, there are some other files to delete and they are harder to find than the wpl files so I will wait till you come back on line to proceed, I will be on for the rest of the night, just reply when you are ready to go ;D
-
READY TO GO
-
Ok
You have to be very very very carefull hear and only delete the folders (NOT files, FOLDERS!) that are shown in the picture bellow, note that when you are trying to find "Admin/AppData" folder you will replace Admin with the name of the computer user account name, might be Chen ? or something ?.
When you have found the folders "JukeBlasterPro" & the "_" folder/s delete them then come back to me
-
Found:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\__\Juke_Blaster_Pro.exe_Url_d1wmxwy1qwqsc4vzhrc2iitap251bqiu
Should i delete C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\__
or only the Juke_Blaster_Pro.exe_Url_d1wmxwy1qwqsc4vzhrc2iitap251bqiu folder
-
Hi
Yes delete the folders in red, did you find any similar in the same location ?
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\’œ‘‡—Š__‰“œ’†™ŠŠ\Juke_Blaster_Pro.exe_Url_d1wmxwy1qwqsc4vzhrc2iitap251bqiu
-
Done.
Only found 1 folder at this location.
No others anywhere that match the description.
-
ok
So you didnt find one that is called "JukeBlasterPro" or any that just have an underscore as a name like this " _ " ?
-
Geoff
Is there only one user on the computer "Administrator" ?
-
Have folders under Documents and settings for:
Administrator
All Users
COSA TEAM
Default User
Only the Administrator folder contained ..\local Settings\Application Data\__\Juke_Blaster*
-
Geoff
Ok, its hard to say what those other acounts contain especially the "COSA TEAM" one lol , but If I was you I would spend 10 minutes looking for any of those folders I said to delete and then re-install JBP and give it a go!
Im going in the bath now (its late evening here) let me know if it was sucsessfull or if the problem remains and I will talk with you tomorrow ;D
Ps: it might be worth downloading a fresh copy of JBP before you re-install just to make sure that Chen's copy is not corrupted somehow.
You are a good friend to Chen ;D
Speak soon
-
Administrator and Guest are the only users defined in control panel\user accounts
-
Ok, we are back in business. Thanks for your help Steve.
Cheers, Geoff.
