john, have to be a bit more verbal, what do you mean " tell me the secret
of getting one of these going" & " far i know these are working units for
a sound leisure cab " mean nothing for me ? .

if anyone knows what john means etc I will help if I can, I know a little bit about coin mech's etc.
as i remember the c220b is an older version of the sr5 (correct me if i'm wrong), i think it has the same body an has parallel and serial interface etc

its a sound leisure jukebox that i converted using vjb and a kim unit
it has a c220b coin mech with clearly marked pin outs one of which
is 12volt but it doesnt power up i do have 2 of these[workers]and
they just wont power up taken 12v from pc power supply

i do remember reading something on the net by someone
who was having the same problem a long time ago so im
seeking the sollution   very strange

no its not powering up that is the problem

have u got a pinout or diagram that shows you got it wired up right ?
ave you metered the power suply to make sure it is giving right voltage

yes it does have pin outs clearly marked

i havent connected my kim to this at this stage what im confused about
is when i connect my 12v-ov supply and insert a coin it doesnt take to
the acept channel it goes out to the eject channel

it might be that the mech is ok but other coin mechs i have used in
the past i always check them with just 12v supply and they acept
coin if they dont and go to eject channel there not powering up[faulty]
yes i have checked it with my meter supply is ok

very odd john
are u sure the mech is a good un?
just a thought but does the spec say anything about inhibiting lines? ie do you have to set any pin high to make it accept?

no i havent got much infoe other then what the pins are labeled

these are very popular mech used in a large amount of sl jukes
and very popular with mame cabs

ive got 2 which were removed from working jukes so i know there not faulty
could do with someone who as done a sl conversion to spot this and let me
know how they got on

jukejohn

Just a couple of things you could look at  ;D

Check your coin-op input settings in VBX
Check your key codes for 50p & £2 are not the same using kimflash utility.
Check you c220 has been programmed correctly.

i beleive im either one dumb arse or just unlucky

i connect my c220[which are workers] and the credit works but no matter what i do the credit doesnt change
value for each coin i can put a 20p in gives me 5creds-50p 5creds £1coin 10creds £2coin 5creds
no matter how i try with vjb coin settings it never changes i can put each switch to 1 credit still the same

also connect sr5 via serial cctalk doesnt give any credit and yes enabled cctalk
if i connect this using parrell connectors via a credit board it works the same as
c220 but spits out £2 coins

the c220 are connected via klingon credit boards if this helps

this is my last reach out for help from you guys begining to feel like a pain
in the arse after this i give up  ::)

7 credits but gives me 3 same as a £1

klingon v1.1 credit board

Hmm, I cant work out what your setup is, are you using a Klingon or the Kim ?, or both lol   :o

sorry steve
both
maybe thats the problem im no numptey im good at electronics just a coin mech virgin
i have set one up before but not using a c220b coin mech or vjb or a kllingon board i do have a 2.2 excel board if thats any difference can also send you pdf of kliingon board
 im at your mercy dude

jukejohn

not sure exactly why you would use both boards because the Kim board can accept parallel inputs just as the klingon can.
Anyway, so you have the klingon connected to the kim and the kim connected to your computer (videobox), so you have 3 chances to get a setting wrong in this setup because...

you can set the price of play on the klingon board & in videobox coin-op section and you could have the input keys set wrong on the kim board

So, what i suggest you do is set the clingon to give 1 pulse for each coin, then use the kimflash utility to set the Kim board to its defaults, then go into videobox coin-op section and set all the coins to give a diffrent number of credits.

Try that, see how it goes...

will try that later

would use the just kim board but not sure how to wire it up to this mech and maybe that would solve my problem

ive decided to try and get the c220b coin mech working with just kim board and no credit board
here is what it says on the coin mech for pin outs

pins
1 - commA- £1
2 - Acc 1 - 50p
3 - key [unused]
4 - Acc2 - 20p
5 - acc3 - 0.10
6 - select
7 - Acc4 - £2
8 - inh4
9 - 12v
10 -0v
11 - inh3
12 - inh2
13 - inh1
14 - inh5.6
15 - inh 7.6

hope this will help just need to know which ones i connect to the kim board
i know there is 5v coming out of some of these so im aware that they will
go to the 12v inputs on the kim but which i dont know hope this makes
my problem more clearly for you to understand  :'(

I tried to fing the c220b datasheet but couldnt find one, but I think the c220b is interchangeable with the sr5 http://gmmpro.com/pub/SR5_Technical_Manual.pdf (http://gmmpro.com/pub/SR5_Technical_Manual.pdf)  so I had a look at the parallel settings and to be honest I think trying to get all the pins configured correctly for parallel will drive you crazy, from what i can see first you have to set all the coin inhibits low before it will accept a coin, then you will have to set the com to give a negative pulse & you would have to set it to 5 coin mode so that it gives 1 pulse on each line for individual coins, so I take back what i said before, it might be a lot easyer for you to use ccTalk, ccTalk basicaly only needs 4 wires, or maybe the Klingon idea isnt so bad after all, I've included a link to the sr5 datasheet above, take a look see what you think.

yes the sr5 is the same for pin outs that much i have found out

so ive connected my sr5 which lights up and takes coins but cant
get any outputs from it i have enabled cctalk but still no go
ive even wired it via 3wires com -supply-signal aswell as the serial lead
it is a known worker looked at the manual over and over again
no sollution

when you tried ccTalk, did you set pin 9 0f the sr5 Low ?

Title: Re: coin mech c220b
Post by: jukejohn on July 04, 2011, 04:12:41 PM
no i didnt how do i do that
Title: Re: coin mech c220b
Post by: Steve on July 04, 2011, 05:12:23 PM
What happens is that when the sr5 is powered up it looks to see if pin 9 on the ccTalk connector is low (connected to Gnd -), if it is it will go into serial mode (ccTalk) if it is not low it will go into parallel mode.

Note that pin 9 must be set before the sr5 is powered up.

If you read the Kim datasheet you will see that this is provided for on the ccTalk connector (see the diagram)

im a fool i havent done that

no doubt it will work will try it later
only down side to using a sr5 is there will be a fair amount of
cutting and bodgeing to make it fit inplace of the c220 but if
it gets it running so be it ill have to get the hacksaw out

Lol  :D , i think the lesson heare is to read up on the subject before connecting wires, anyway I hope that works for you, test it before you break-out the hacksaw lol  ;D

made progress but not there as yet
cctalk seems to be working im getting a signal through with a 50p acording to my
remapper software this is keynumber 1 and a £2 is number 4 but no credit on vjb

this is the closest ive got with cctalk what do you surgest from here

does the kim want resetting

why is it that when each time i open the kim software the cctalk is always unticked is that normal

and yes dj its is fun but this is also giving me one mighty headache
costing me in paracetimol lol
