Title: Connecting note acceptor and coin mech??
Post by: Dj4nrv on December 16, 2012, 07:11:53 PM
Is it possible to connect a note acceptor as well as a coin acceptor?
I seem to remember mentioning it before but never really looked into it fully until now.
I have an sr5e and taiko note accepter in an existing cabinet and also have my coin kit board and my Kim board from my other jukes.
I would like to have multi coin and note acceptance..... Is this possible even with the hardware I have and Videobox?
I've only ever used my coin kit for the remote function and from what I read it only will accept 1 coin type?
Is it possible to make the coin kit accept just one note from a note mech, or should I just ditch the coin kit from the equation??
Any help here guys would be great don't really know where to start with this??

hello dj u wont find any interface anywhere atthe moment (at a reasonable price) that will do what u want cause the sr5e uses encryption (thas what the "e"  means) an most if not all note acceptors are encrypte due to t high value of the notes.

i had an idea to make a modified coinkit to fill this gap but its just an idea in my head at the moment.

Ok cheers Bry
What if I was to switch to a regular sr5?

Can I use these inline on the cctalk line with the Kim board??

no the nv7 is encrypted altho coinkit will work with the sr5 & sr5i & sr3

edit: assuming u have enable the ccTalk mode on Coin Kit

hmm maybe all is not lost i just had a look ta the nv7 datasheet again http://diagramas.diagramasde.com/otros/MANUAL%20NV7.pdf
an it looks like u can set the nv7 output to pulse mode u would need to experiment but it might work for u with coinkit in std pulse mode
bu u could not have both coin acceptor & note acceptor using 2 diffrent modes like pulse & ccTalk at same time
but if the nv7 works in pulse mode u coulsd however have 2 coin kits one for coins and one for notes maybe

Cheers Bry , and cheers for putting the data sheets up ,will be handy for Sure.
Are we saying Its not possible at all to have both multi note and multi coin acceptance on a single machine with Videobox? But I can have multi note and single coin acceptance with my coin kit (for coins) and Kim (for notes) ??
No surprise .... But I'm a little confused.

ok this is how i see it bu renember this is speculation caus u would have to experiment a little to se if the nv7 works in pulse mode
if the note acc will work with coin kit in pulse mode u could have 2 note acc's on 1 coin kit.
if u wanted notes and coins u would need 2 coin kits 1 for t notes an one for coins  (u can have 2 coin kits working on one Videobox)
u cant have 2 ccTalk coin acceptors on 1 coin kit (only lite ccTalk) but u can have 2 pulse coin acceptors.

so u can have

1x CK with up to 2 pulse note acc attached
or
1x CK with up to 2 pulse coin acc attached
or
2x CK 1 ccTalk coin acc atached other CK with pulse note attached
or
in theory u could have 1x CK with both pulse note & pulse coin acc attached but you would have to be clever in asigning pulse counts to coins & notes

hope that helps sorry if it makes u more confused lol

Cheers for explaining that Bry.
I'm going to have a little look at this again this weekend.
But I may end up buying another CK.

I know nothing about note acceptors but if they're anything like coin mechs couldnt you just hook one up to a keyboard emulator like the keywiz and just use a keyboard remapper to set the pulses to f1, f2 etc???
