Title: Playlist issue
Post by: Wim on May 07, 2012, 02:17:51 PM
I am new on the forum and just started evaluating VideoBox.
It looks great, I just have a few minnor issues:

The small issues I found:
- The playlist shows the tracks OK, but when a track is finished, it is not removed from the playlist.
- When the playlist is finished, (tracks still showing) and I select another track, the playlist starts to play from the start. The is true for a multi playlist, but also for a 1 track playlist. In other words, If I play 1 track, and want to play another one, Videobox plays the earlier track again and continues with the new track.

Maybe somebody can advise me?

Wim.

Hi Wim

just a few questions  :D

Have you made any changes to the BGM from Url (internet radio) ?.

What kind of files give this behaviour ?, eg (wma, mp3 etc).

Steve,

I didn't make any changes (that I know of!) after the installation.

I am using Mp3 files. The files I use however, contain special data to drive a player piano. There is audio on the right channel and analoge midi on the left channel.

I will check with some files that came with VideoBox and see if the playlist issue is related to the files.

Thanks,

Wim.

Steve,

I see the same issue with the files that came with VideoBox.

I had a problem with the installation. When trying to install  NET framework, nothing happend. No options to install or repair. I installed NET framework from the Microsoft website. So I expected that was solved.

I do see an error message when I run VideoBox. It is a message translated into Dutch. Something like "An unexpected error occured."

The details are pasted below.

Thanks,

Wim.

Hi Wim

Your problem is with the .NET framework 3.5 sp1, try to re-install, that is the problem.
Title: Re: Playlist issue

Steve,

I re-installed Net framework 4. Windows confirmed "Net framework 4 repaired". It didn't solve the problem.  Any suggestion?

Thanks,

Wim.

Hi Wim

Framework 4 ?, VBX works with framework 3.5 sp1.
Title: Re: Playlist issue
Post by: Wim on May 07, 2012, 10:07:05 PM
Steve,

I removed Net Framework 4. It seems Net Framework 3.5 comes standard with Windows 7. I checked the Windows settings and Net Framework 3.5 is enabled.
I re-installed VideoBox. When selecting the first box, to install Net Framework, no window opens to install or repair. Could this be the problem that Net Framework is not assigned to VideoBox?

Thanks for your support!

Wim.

Steve,

My playlist issue is not solved.

Are you sure this is related to Net Framework? Everything else works fine, except the playlist starst over after completing. This is true for a 1 song playlist or a 100 track playlist.

Any support is appreciated.

Wim.

Hi Wim

When you say 'Playlist', I assume you mean the track queue ?.
Title: Re: Playlist issue
Post by: Wim on May 08, 2012, 05:46:26 PM
Steve,

I assume so?

When I play 1 song, it shows in the qeue list (right bottum). As soon as the song is finished it keeps showing, and when I start another song, VideoBox plays the 1th song again, and contnues with the newly added.
This is also true for a qeue list with more songs.
I would expect that a finished song would no longer show in the qeue list, and when finished, starting with an empty list with the newly selected song.

Sorry if you misunderstood me, English is not my native language.

Thanks,

Wim.

Hi Wim

I understand now what you mean, but I do not know what would cause that, here is what I recommend...

Download our software tool and use it to delete your config file, this will set everything back to default...

Ps: your english language is perfect  ;D

Wim.

That looks ok, so try this...

Right click on the Videobox icon and from the menu choose 'Run as administrator'.

Hi Wim

Yes it is a hard one, I do not think this is a problem of Videobox (because nobody else has this problem), I think it is either the .NET Framework or a Windows problem.

Do you have any anti-virus programs on there ?.

I have AVG antivirus running.
I disabled it but it didn't solve the issue.
Can I try to install a copy of VideoBox on another PC?

Thanks,

Yes, try it on another PC.

Steve,

I installed VideoBox on another PC and the problem/issue is still there.

As on the install on the 1th PC, there was no window showing an install/repair option after selecting: Install Net Framework. I had good hopes when I noticed that the error message didn't show up on start up.
I played 1 track (without changing standard settings.) and waited untill it stopped. Starting a diiferent track made the first track play again, followed by the 2nd.

Are you sure I am the only one seeing this?

Thanks,

Wim.

Hi Wim

Yes you are the only one with this problem I have never seen this issue before.
I am wondering if this is something regional with windows, what copy of Windows do you have ?.
Title: Re: Playlist issue
Post by: Wim on May 09, 2012, 09:07:10 AM
Steve,

Both systems: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Dutch language package.
The 1th PC I installed VideoBox on was bought last Saturday, so it must be rather "clean".

I did select "Nederlands" (Dutch) when asked for during setup of VideoBox.

Thanks,

Wim.

Hmm, I dont know then, the only thing that is diffrent is the language but I cannot see how that would make any diffrence.

Did you install both 32 & 64 bit flash player ?.

It sayd that the Flash Player package did include both the 32 and 64 version. Can I check?

Wim

You can try to install flash again, it will tell you if it is already installed.

If your windows is a new install you can try experiment with diffrent installs, try 32bit insted of 64, try english lang insted of Dutch maybe.

Yes please try to experiment with it, I have been trying to think what it could be, I will inform you if I think of anything else we can try.

Steve,

I installed VideoBox on a 32 bit Vista PC. I had good hopes, since, when selecting the Net Framework setup, I was asked if I wanted to repair it. Everything went fine and as in the manual. Adobe Flash Player was installed as 32 bit version.
To my surprise the problem is still there.

I talked to a colegue in the US, and he played VideoBox while discussing my problem over the phone. He doesn't see my problem, so it is definitive only on my PC's. Do you have Dutch customers who run a Dutch Windows? I am starting to think that that is the only option we have left.

Thanks,

Wim.

I was starting to think that it might be a windows regional problem, but I think we do have VBX users in your country, I do not knoe if they have Dutch language copy of Windows though ?.

I dont understand why the language should make any diffrence, this is verry odd.

Steve,

I am considering to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. This enables running in different regions and languages.

Can you ask around and see if it is worth the money ? In case you have customers running a Dutch Win7 it might not solve the problem.

Thanks,

Wim.

If you intend to run only VBX on the target PC is it worth upgrading to Ultimate ?, why not just use XP or better Vista 32bit.

If you will use the PC for other things as well as VBX then I guess it might be worthwhile to upgrade, I use Vista ultimate and I find it works fine for everything, I personally do not like windows 7.

Steve,

YES!

I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, and the playlist now works as expected. I first tried VideoBox with the standard setting, but that didn't solve the issue. I installed the English language pack, and changed location to US. Now when I play 1 song (or more), the finished songs no longer show in the playlist, and when done, I can start with a fresh playlist.
The error message on start up still shows, but doesn't have an effect on the program. (I think....)

It is a bit strange so you may want tolook into this a bit deeper with your engineers.

A last suggestion: Add to the wishlist an extra time indicator for the complete playlist. I am planning to use a coin selector, and don't want to have customers putting in coins when the complete playlist plays for say 50 minutes !

Thanks for your support, and I might be back with other questions.

Wim.
