Title: "File too big" error when using JMC to create a library
Post by: tigerpie on October 27, 2021, 05:05:51 AM
Hi Guys,
I was using the JMC to create a library, and copy protect music files.
I have 34 files (all .mp4 files) that are between 210mb and 332mb..
After I have set the Jukebox, and music folders (input and output)
I click on "Write Music Files" and within a few seconds, i get the pop up "Finished" but no files are in my output music folder.
When I checked the JMC folder there is a text file called "Bad Music Files.txt" and in there is listed all the music files with "File Too Big" at the start of each line and then path to the files....
is there a file size limitation or something on the files?

Cheers Guys
any help is greatly appreciated.
Scott

Yeah, sounds like those files are way too big, you will need to use a converter to reduce the file size, I had a look at my own video mp4's and none of them are any way near that size...

ahhh man really?
We use these same files in other jukebox and Background music systems without issue. I might just not use them as it would be a pain to have to constantly convert the files......
Would this limitation be because of the jukebox software or the JMC software?
Would it be possible to simply remove the limitation?

Cheers Steve

Its because of the scrambling conversion rate, you could use these files no problem if you dont scramble them.

I have to scramble them though.....so peops dont steal our music library's (which does actually happen unfortunately.)
can we turn this off??... please or increase the file size limit?

It cant be turned off because the algo wouldnt be able to decode fast enough for the file to play, those files you have must be either super high quality or they are short short movies lol, if you want to scramble them you will need to get the file size down to at least 200mb minimum I would say, but even 200mb is HUGE for a jukebox track :-\, my mp4 pop videos are in the range of 5mb to 75mb.

use this free app  https://www.videoconverterfactory.com/free-hd-video-converter/

1. drop files onto app
2. set slider to 720 or 480 this reduce file size
3.click go

Thanks for the explanation steve, and the suggestion Bry.
the ability to converting the files isnt the issue as we convert our HD content to about 9 different formats as it is.
The reason I would prefer not to have to convert files is that I am using a music library we use for other software formats. If we have to convert files for Pubjuke then this ads another step in the work flow, and the reason for wanting to use pubjuke was to simplify our workflow.
Not to worry though we'll just push on and convert when necessary.
Again, thanks for getting back to me guys and the explanation.

Cheers.
