JBP crashing on run

Since activating the background music the software crashes. When I open it it tries to play the BGM and crashes before I can even get to the settings so it pretty useless.

I’ve trying removing it and re-installing it but this does not correct the problem.

Can you explain where the setup file for it is so I can edit this and stop it accessing BGM music and therefor stopping it crashing? or is there another fix?

Hi Adrian

You can't edit the config file directly because Windows in its infinite wisdom makes copies of these files and likes to store them in silly places that nobody knows about.

So, here is what I suggest

First, copy your licence file to your desktop for safekeeping.

Uninstall JBP, then you will have to find the hidden files & folders and delete them.
I use Windows Vista & I can tell you where the files are, if you have winXp or other system you will have to find the eqivelent location.

Look in:  C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\

Delete all folders named:-        "Juke Blaster Pro"   or    " JBP"   or     "_"

Now Re-install JBP

Hi Steve

Thank you for the quick reponse. I'm running windows 7.

I uninstalled the software and then located the folder _ under users etc and deleted this.

I then reinstalled the software with the same problem. Any other ideas or files I could find?

JBP is not tested with windows 7 (as per the Pre Purchase FAQ http://jukeblaster.com/pre-purchase-faq.php)
But, I will try to help :-), first I need some info, you say that JBP is "crashing" what does this mean ?, is there an error dialog box showing ?, if so what are the error details ?.

Was JBP giving this error on first install ?, or just after you enabled the BGM ?.
Did you choose BGM from Url or Constant ?

After you un-installed and the deleted the files i told you about, is JBP still trying to play BGM ?.

Ps: JBP creates temp playlist files in "My Music/Playlists/JBP.pwl"

Hi Steve

Thank you for this. All was working great until I tried to enable BGM. I think I had it running as constant.

When I run JBP it opens and straight away greys out under windows and says its now responding. No error messages from JBP itself comes up.

I've just checked Mr music/playlists/ and there is a file there called jbp.wpl. I clicked on it and it opened windows media player which greyed out and stopped working before doing anything.

I deleted this file, ran JBP and all fired up and is now working.

Thats a crazy problem I've not seen before, thanks for letting us know what the fix was (it may help someone else).
So, if I understand you correctly, you now have JBP working on Windows7 ?.

I hav'nt tested JBP with Windows7 yet, so if you encounter any other problems (or even if you dont) please let us all know. Thanks
