I haven't seen this before and no one else has reported it, so my best guess is that something external is causing this, try this...
temp disable all anti virus and protection software on the PC and report if this has an effect on the problem.

Hi Ray, odd that the antivirus has an effect, it shouldnt have any effect at all.
Just another thought for you, do you have a Coin Kit connected ?, could it be picking up a stray shutdown command from somewhere ?.
Try this, Go into the VBX control panel and in the 'Shutdown Options' page, set it to do nothing.

Hmm, sounds like there's something wrong with your windows system, changing antivirus & firewall should not affect VBX at all but it does so there's something going on there.
If its not your main PC I would say re install windows & VBX (but not the antivirus etc), If it is your main PC then I suggest looking more at your antivirus manual and also make an exception in the firewall rules to ignore VBX.
one other thing to look at is maybe your connection to the internet, VBX makes periodic checks for updates and relies on a good connection to deliver BGM from Url, check the connection is not suffering from dropouts as this could cause your program to hang for a while if Bgm from Url was playing, try starting and playing VBX without a net connection.
