Title: Albums dissapeared
Post by: marshy on March 22, 2010, 10:16:07 PM
Hi,i wonder if you can help?
I have been cleaning up all my albums and had about 50 in a folder called POP,all of a sudden i looked at the POP section on the jukebox and there was only the first 5 from my folder in alphabetical order visible..so i went back to my windows explorer to check and they are all still there...and they were. I tried to reload them in the settings menu but nothing happened, how can i make them reappear on my jukebox????

Thx! Phil.

Hi marshy

I think the solution to your problem might be that some of your albums (folders) are more than  2 folders deep under the JBP folder, (see the jbp help manual) , let me know if this helps.

Steve,
They are only 1 deep, what i cant understand is that it was all fine, showing all my album covers a-z,but then i went back in to check and only the first 5 albums a-c were left???

Hi Phil

I can only think that something was changed in your folder structure, you say "i went back in to check ", does that mean you re-started JBP or that you went back in to your folders to check or something ?.

You also say "only the first 5 albums a-c were left", does that mean they are gone from your hard drive, or not showing in JBP ?.

Let me know so we can get to the bottom of the problem.

Steve,
No..they are still in the hard drive and show up on the update music settings menu of jbp.
just not on the player..i will have to check when i get home..the problem may start after "C" in my folders because thats the end of my albums on the player...strange!!!

i had jbp running at the same time as my Exporer and as i was changing the folders names i would check if the kept appearing on the player.

Hey Phil

JBP reads your music when it starts up, so if you change something in your music folders you should see the change when you re-start JBP.

Not quite sure what this means lol  ;D
"the problem may start after "C" in my folders because thats the end of my albums on the player" ?

get back to me when you get chance to have a play with it, we will get it sorted  :D

Steve,
Sorry "c" is for celine dion, which is the last album that is shown in the "pop" catergory on the player, but it is shown on the settings section..and in my hard drive..

Ok

If the albums and tracks show on the update music page then they should be showing as categories and tracks.

If you go to your JBP folder where your albums and tracks are........

1. expand all the folders into view

2. take a screen capture (picture of the folders/tracks)........(press "Prt Scr" on your keyboard & paste into windows paint)

send me the picture and I will take a look to see if I can figure out what the problem is

Hi Phil

I have commented on the pictures to better explain, please expand the folders as explained in the picture so that I can diagnose the problem.

Hi Phil

Your folder structure is correct, the problem is that your categories "folder.jpg" is mising from your category folders, see attached picture, I should have spotted this yesterday Phil, sorry about that.

Steve,
I have the "folder" in the file with the tracks,do you mean i have to put it at the top of each catergory as well???..On your manual it shows "folder.jpg" in with the tracks...not in the same section as the singers...??

Sorry am i being stupid???

Phil

No you aint being stupid, I'm just not explaining it right...

Ok. here goes. Its not the same picture as the one in your album folders (where your mp3's are), its a diffrent picture (but still called folder.jpg) that shows a general picture for that category genre.

see picture

Phil

ok, so now you have all your album & categories art showing  ;D, but you have some albums that dont show  :-\

I'm %100 convinced that the problem now will be something wrong in the folder structure of those albums.
The way i would go about fixing it is to move all albums to a temp folder and then put the offending albums back into your JBP folder 1 at a time, that way you should discover the problem.

LoL, bye-bye Daniel, been nice knowing ya, (trash-can rattles)  ;D

Ps: I dont think it will be the mp3's themselves as JBP can detect a duff track and reject it automaticaly (not a lot of people know that)  ;D

Anyway, have fun my friend :-)
