Title: video update
Post by: jukejohn on January 23, 2012, 02:10:56 PM
will you be doing a video of the update of the subfolder thingy

i havent updated from the last update before this one the reason being my huge
library vjb didnt cope with it that well from a user side of things
as i would need alot of time to put it together with sub folders
then maybe i could use vjb again because it was just to hardwork when you have
large amounts and 40 genres/collections so if a vid is possible to display this
would be great dude  ;D

you would need to make sure with steve or bry but your current structure should still work in the new version.
so should stil be able to update. dont hold me to it though!
everything feels alot more responsive and slicker now too...or is that just me ??

the amount of music i have would require subfolders in subfolders not just one subfolder pr genre
thats still not enough for me but who knows maybe steve and bry will crack that they have done
great work so far

It's already done John, you can have subfolders as deep as you like  ;D

You could have:- Genre -> artist -> year -> double albums -> best of -> cd1 -> track.mp3

or...

Year -> Genre -> Artist -> albums -> the best of -> track.mp3

Granted the above is an extreme example but it shows you can go as deep as you wish with your sub-cats

Hope that helps, Enjoy!  :D

And genre/sub genre/tracks for others in the same library?

Hey Dj

Just playing VBX right now, and you are right!, it does feel better and more responsive, dont know if I can take credit for that because our Bry has done most of the coding on this feature, but what the hell its cool  ;D.

Ps: yes the old folder structure is fine and will still work  :D

Steve
It may just be that now there's less to load on a screen at a time.
I'm not sure how vjb loads the folders but it seems to load 1 tier at a time?
Which is good!
Anyhow I think this might be the best update yet, suprised you didn't hold this back until v3 as it has added to Videoboxs functionality tenfold. ;D

I'm now considering a whole genre for karaoke tracks with on screen lyrics.
A singles sub category for each genre
A top artist for each genre
And every uk no1 since the 60s in its own genre.
I am also toying with the idea of going with real sub genres, for example,
 dance music-
trance,
house,
Electro
Etc.
Although I'm going to have to re tag literally my whole library for that! Hmmm
It'll be worth it tho....

Hi Dj

So glad you like it, makes it all worthwhile  :D

I was going to wait until V3 to introduce sub-cats (just because I thought it would confuse some users) but our Bry convinced me that users would still be able to use the standard 'Genre -> Album' format.
And anyway a V3 is a loooong way off getting started, it would be a complete new build from the ground up.

Funny you should mention karaoke, I already tried that with Videobox but I wasnt happy with it, so Ive been messing around with mp3+g files, I gutted a copy of Videobox and I'm trying to make it into a dedicated Karaoke file player, should be fun  ;D :o  ;D

i agrea this is one hell of a welcome update

as i mentioned im doing my bubbler project which i bought a high spec asus board for
so im gonna have to buy a extra licence but in the meantime i have downloaded vbx
on it and i beleive it gives you a 3 day trial as i still am using another juke software on it
which took me ages to set up and might add [honest time] im gonna do a comparrison
with both softwares i do need this baby to be spoton
so steve is this 3day trial work constantly or does it close down and as you can imagine
its one hell of a messy job for me so ive made a temp library for vbx and see how it goes

Hey John, there is no 3 day trial for VBX 2.7 lol :D, if you install on another computer youre supposed to get a license for it.
Just get your hand in your pocket and support the cause a little bit ;D, you know VBX is the king :D

Dont know how you drink that stuff, bit too much for me I like a lager though, but our Bry drinks Carlsberg like its going out of existense.

I would love any of the round top juke cabinets but I think they are too expensive at the moment, people are trying to get rid of the old ones with CRT monitors in them and BIG old pc's, I think eventually the price will come down and I will be able to afford one, I know our Bry wants one as well or one of those wurlitzer wall mount touchscreen cabinets.
